Semi-formal occasions are a tough to dress for, requiring the right balance that can at times be hard to judge. Go a little overboard and you end up looking too formal. Try not to overdo it and you might just end up looking like you’re out to a backyard party.

        Donna Karan’s Modern Libra Chain Shoulder Bag is truly a perfect example of such accessories straddling elegance and casual chic equally well. It comes in a soothing yet warm shade that I would define as ‘rose.’

        Made from leather and sporting a very subdued shine, this designer item can also be bought in black. Both shades do well to contrast with the dull gold toned hardware in the form of the clip, libra chain, etc., I particularly like the Libra chain which comes off looking delicate and feminine, especially as it contrasts with the youthful rose color. The chain allows a 7” drop so the best way to carry it would be on your shoulder, though there are some who would carry them in their hands regardless.

        This bag’s sleek and yet spacious with three slip pockets inside, one of which is accessed by a magnetic clasp. There’s a zippered pocket as well inside that adds to the storage space available. The measurements are 13x8x3”.

        The one thing that doesn’t appeal about this bag is the price tag it comes with – an astounding $1,195 – which I think is a little too much.
